Champions of Character

Champions of Character is a programmatic emphasis of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics - and of the KCAC, an affiliate member of the NAIA.

"The Champions of Character process is designed to instill an understanding of character values in sport, and to provide practical tools for student athletes, coaches, and parents for them to use in modeling exemplary character traits," Dr. Crawford stated. "Sports do not build character in young people - character-driven adults do," he added.

As described by the NAIA on its website <www.naia.org>, the C of C program meets the need of character development with five core values: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.

"In the KCAC each week two student-athletes are selected for recognition as Champions of Character Athletes. They are selected weekly from across the Conference, as they excel athletically, academically, and in the communities they serve," Commissioner Crawford stated.
