WICHITA, KS - The NAIA has released its final 2009 Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Three KCAC teams made the final poll. Ottawa University was the highest ranked KCAC team at #6. McPherson College was ranked #12, and Friends University finished the season at #15.
Ottawa University was ranked #6 in the poll. The Braves finished the season as the KCAC Champion with a conference record of 9-0. In the first round of the NAIA Football Championship Series, Ottawa defeated Hastings College and then lost to Lindenwood University in the second round. Ottawa University finished the season with an 11-1 record.
McPherson College was ranked #12 in the poll. The Bulldogs finished the season as the KCAC Runner-up with a conference record of 8-1 and received an at large bid to the NAIA Football Championship Series. In the first round, McPherson was defeated by MidAmerica Nazarene University. McPherson College finished the season with a 9-2 record.
Friends University was ranked #15 in the poll. The Falcons finished the season with a conference record of 7-2. Friends University did not receive an at large bid and did not participate in the NAIA Football Championship Series. Friends University finished the season with an 8-2 record.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents.
