MCPHERSON, KS - The McPherson College women's soccer team has recently been named a recipient of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Team Ethics Award winner for their conduct during the 2009 season. This marks the second year in a row the Bulldogs have received this honor.

"We are very pleased with our women's team receiving the Team Ethics and Sportsmanship award for the second year in a row," said McPherson College head women's soccer coach Robert Talley. "Last fall we felt as a program we played soft at time and as a result were knocked around by our opponents. This season the women stepped up their intensity, while still maintaining their integrity and professionalism."

The Bulldogs bettered their 2008 Bronze Award with a Sliver Award in 2009. Criteria for the Silver Award include a maximum of five yellow cards and no red cards during the season. McPherson was one of 45 teams to claim a silver award.

McPherson posted only its second double-digit winning season in 2009, as the Bulldogs finished the year with a 10-5-3 mark to go along with a 6-1-2 record in KCAC play. For the second year in a row, McPherson's season ended in the KCAC tournament semifinal round.
