McPherson, Kan. - McPherson College President Michael Schneider announced Monday morning at a campus briefing that Doug Quint, current head men's soccer coach and assistant athletic director, will be the next athletic director at McPherson College, effective immediately. Quint will remain as the head of the soccer program in addition to his responsibilities as athletic director. "We expect our student athletes to graduate," says McPherson President Michael Schneider.
"Building programs through graduation is how you win in the NAIA. Doug
(Quint) embraces this philosophy and will provide strong leadership for
our athletic programs." Quint spent last year assisting interim AD Jenni
Richardson with management of the day-to-day operations of McPherson's
13 varsity sports. Much of Quint's responsibilities revolved around the
scheduling, development and management of McPherson's athletic
facilities.
Prior to and during his time as assistant athletic director, Quint has served as MC's head men's soccer coach. Throughout his tenure, Quint had guided the Bulldogs to two KCAC Championships (2008, 2009) and a 69-54-12 record. He was named KCAC Coach of the Year after directing McPherson to an undefeated conference season and a program record 15 wins in 2009.
"I am honored and humbled to receive this promotion," said Quint. "During my tenure, we (McPherson athletics) has seen a positive shift in the growth and competitiveness of our programs. It's my goal to continue the success while maintaining the values of McPherson College."
Quint went to school at Bethel College, where he received a bachelor's degree in education. He and his wife, Jeny, have two children.
