Wichita, Kan. – Kansas Wesleyan's Brett Giesen (Junior, Laguna Niguel, Calif.) totaled 177 rushing yards to earn Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week honors.  Saint Mary's Cris Basch (Junior, Las Vegas, Nev.) and Bobby Schattle (Junior, Plano, Tex.) also earn weekly honors.

  

Offensive Player of the Week belongs to Kansas Wesleyan University Running Back Brett Giesen.  The 5-11, 175 lb. Junior earns his second KCAC player of the week award by rushing for a career high 177 yards in a winning effort against Southwestern College on Saturday afternoon.  Giesen averaged 5.5 yards per attempt (32) and scored four touchdowns during the 45 to 35 Coyote victory.

 

Cris Basch is awarded Defensive Player of the Week as University of Saint Mary wins an away game over conference opponent McPherson College, 34 to 31.  The 5-11, 195 lb. Junior Linebacker recorded seven solo tackles, assisted on five other tackles, had two tackles for a loss, a sack, forced a fumble, and intercepted two Bulldog Passes.  Basch scored a defensive touchdown in the first quarter by returning one on of his interceptions 30 yards.  His forced fumble and second interception led to two Spires scoring drives.

University of Saint Mary Junior Bobby Schattle earns Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in a 34 to 31 away victory over the McPherson College.  The 6-0, 195 lb Kicker was perfect on scoring attempts, hitting two field goals including a long of 42 yards and four PATs.  Schattle also kicked off seven times for 291 yards and punted once for 44 yards.
