Wichita, Kan. – Jazmine Alexander of McPherson College has been named the KCAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. Kayla Wilson of Southwestern College has won her second Women's Outdoor Field Athlete Award of 2014. Both student-athletes were selected from a pool of nominees by vote of conference Sports Information Directors for their performances during the week of April 21 - 28.
Alexander, a Junior from Oak Grove, California, earned Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week thanks to her performance at the Wildcat Relays hosted by Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas on April 26. Alexander finished second out of 21 runners in the 200m dash with a time of 25.08, meeting the NAIA's "B" Qualifying Standard for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama on May 22-24. Alexander also ran a leg in the McPherson 4x100m relay team that finished first with a time of 47.03, meeting the NAIA's "A" Qualifying Standard.
Wilson, a Freshman from Mooreland, Oklahoma, won her second Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award with a pair of NAIA Qualifying performances at the Southwestern Relays in Winfield, Kansas. She finished first in the long jump with a mark of 5.85 (19' 2.3"), and ran a leg in the Southwestern 4x100m relay team that finished first with a time of 48.05. Wilson's jump was the fourth longest mark in the NAIA this season, and met the NAIA's "A" Qualifying Standard, while the Southwestern relay team met the NAIA's "B" Qualifying Standard.
