Garden City, Kan. - Southwestern College battled high winds on the first day of the 2014 KCAC Women's Golf Championship to earn the team title. Kamie Rash of Kansas Wesleyan University claimed the individual title, with Hannah Mason of Southwestern College finishing second. The championship took place April 21 at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kansas, a par 72 course that measures 5,820 yards (Rating 72.4, Slope 126).
High winds and rain pushed back the start of round two an hour, forcing a shotgun start. After an hour of play it was deemed the high winds made the golf course unplayable.
Rash overcame 40 mph winds to claim the KCAC individual championship. Rash's consistent play on the front nine, parring six holes, carried her to an 85 and three shot victory.
Southwestern finished with a team score of 373, edging Ottawa by 12 strokes. Hannah Mason led the Moundbuilders with an 88. Alyssa Richardson finished tied for third (92), Jalyn McCauley tied for fifth (96), and Danae Decker tied for 10th (103).
Ottawa's top scorer was Erin Shriver who tied for third with a 92. Mallory Kloeppel (96), Amy Weilert (98), Kaitlynn Walker (99), and Sara Housman (103) all posted Top-10 individual scores for the Braves
