WINFIELD, KS — The post-season Softball tournament of the Kansas Collegiate
Athletic Conference will be held this Thursday and Friday, May 3-4, with Friday as
an optional rain-date. All nine softball teams of the conference will play in the
tournament.Friends University and Ottawa University are the KCAC regular-season conference
co-champions. The championship tie remains for the regular season. However, for
post-season tournament seeding and for advancing, Friends is the sole number one,
based on head-to-head tie-break. For seeds, tie-breaks were also applied for
seventh-place in regular-season ranking.

Both the KCAC Conference regular-season champion (Friends University on tie-break)
and the post-season tournament champion will get automatic berths to the NAIA Region
IV Tournament to be held in Bellevue, Nebraska, on Wednesday and Thursday, May 9-10.
The Region IV Tournament will be hosted this year by the Midland Collegiate
Athletic Conference. The regional tournament is in charge of Region Four softball
chair Ed Lehotak, with assistance from KCAC softball chair Mike McCormick. The
6-team regional tournament will include 2 automatic berths from the KCAC and 2
automatic berths from MCAC plus 2 at-large berths. [In both KCAC and MCAC if the
regular-season champion and the tourney champs are same team, then the runner-up of
tournament(s) will go to regional tournament.]

The KCAC softball post-season tournament this year is being hosted by Southwestern
College in Winfield, Kansas, on Thursday and Friday, May 3-4, 2007, with KCAC
softball chair Mike McCormick in charge (phone 620-242-0585, Cell 620-242-7835, home

<mccormim@mcpherson.edu>). He will be assisted in Tournament administration by
Southwestern College personnel, with statistics and media information provided by
Southwestern College SID Mike Collins phone 620-229-6259, Email
<mcollins@sckans.edu> or <SID@sckans.edu>, and with SID assistance as needed from
institutional SID Katie Tooley of Ottawa. The tournament is to be held on Fields 3
and 4 at the Broadway Recreation Complex (adjacent to the K-360 bypass, in south
Winfield); the complex is operated by Winfield Recreation Commission (620-221-2160),
with Tim Nihart the Broadway Recreation Complex supervisor (620-221-5637). This
year there will be no gate admission charge.

The KCAC tournament bracketed games are based on seedings from regular-season

The KCAC Conference softball regular-season champion and post-season tournament

Ottawa University, Ottawa; Southwestern College, Winfield [NO baseball]; Sterling
College, Sterling; Tabor College, Hillsboro; University of Saint Mary,
Leavenworth.

The ten member institutions of the MCAC are: Bellevue University (Neb), Central
Christian College (Kans.), Haskell Indian Nations University (Kan.), Newman
University (Kan.), Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OK), College of the Ozarks (MO),
Park University (MO), Peru State College (Neb.), College of Saint Mary (Neb), York
College (Neb.).

The NAIA 27th Annual Softball National Championship Tournament will be held May
18-23, 2007, at Wilson Morgan Softball Complex in Decatur, Alabama.
