Ottawa, Kan. - Head baseball coach Jarrod Titus reached victories 300 and 301 this past weekend with wins over York College and Hillsdale Baptist.  He is the first Ottawa University head coach to reach the milestone.

“If you are somewhere long enough you are bound to hit a few milestones,” said Titus. “I just hope we can get to 600, 700, 800, 1000!!  It has been fun!”

Coach Titus is in his 15th season as head coach of the Ottawa University baseball program. During his time at OU, he has captured six KCAC titles, earned KCAC Coach of the Year six times and was selected as Region IV Coach of the Year in 2003. Coach Titus has coached 14 NAIA All-Americans, 16 All-Region players, 97 All-KCAC selections; seven times he has had a player earn KCAC Player of the Year honors and has had two Region IV Player of the Year selections. He became the all-time winningest coach in Ottawa University athletic history in 2006, surpassing famed OU men’s basketball coach Bill Frear with his 270th victory.

“Coach Titus does a great job recruiting and coaching his players.  He is extremely knowledgeable about the game of baseball and is a great teacher of the game,” said OU Athletic Director Arabie Conner. “His love of the game and success on the field speaks for itself.”

Coach Titus, a native of Lee’s Summit , Mo. was an outstanding college player. He was a three year starter at William Jewell College in Liberty , Mo. and earned all-conference and all-region honors at shortstop. He spent his senior season at the University of Kansas where he earned Big 8 Player of the Week honors twice.

“It’s an outstanding accomplishment for Coach Titus, his program, and family,” said OU assistant athletic director, Bruce Tate. “Reaching such a milestone, shows that he has been able to do the right things to be successful…it’s not only the endurance, but the support of family, assistants, and recruiting the right the kids.”

The Braves are back in action on Friday, Feb. 29th in Sherman , Texas when they take on Austin College in a four game series.
