LINDSBORG, KS - The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced the volleyball preseason coaches' polls for the expected 2008 fall championship race finish. The vote was conducted during the 2nd Annual KCAC Sport Management Conference held at Bethany College on Monday, Aug. 11.
1. Bethel College - 85 (2 first-place votes)
2. Kansas Wesleyan University - 84 (3 first-place votes)
3. Tabor College - 80 (3 first-place votes)
4. Bethany College - 76 (2 first-place votes)
5. Friends University - 56
6. U. of Saint Mary - 47
7. Sterling College - 43
8. Ottawa University - 41
9. McPherson College - 24
10. Southwestern College - 14
With four teams recceiving first-place votes, the field appears to be wide open for one of the top four voted schools to make a claim for the KCAC volleyball regular season title.
There is much at stake for the regular season champion this year with the KCAC and the NAIA moving into the direct-qualification format for the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Tournament.
The regular season champion in the conference will be the #1 seed and host of the KCAC Volleyball semifinals on Friday, November 14th and the final on Saturday, November 15th. The winner of the KCAC Volleyball Championship will represent the conference in the NAIA National Volleyball Championship.
